Meet Anthony Bryan: Sprinter!

What is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement so far was being selected for England in the 2015 CPRISA World games and winning Gold in both the 800m and 1500m becoming a world champion in each.

What is your greatest ambition?

My biggest and greatest ambition is to compete in the Paralympics. To wear that international vest and do my country proud.

What is your inspiration for competing?

I have always been sporty particularly at school, but having a disability meant that I wasn’t always selected and involved in the sports teams. Now I am in Athletics I strive to be the best to show that I can compete to the highest ability. I love the buzz and the adrenaline rush you get as you step onto the start line, your chance to show everyone what you are made of and what you are capable of, to run as fast and as hard as possible.

That great feeling when you cross the finish line with no energy left in your body giving it 110%. When it all comes together and those months of hard graft and training have paid off and you make that new PB, makes it all worthwhile and proud of who you are!

What is the hardest thing about your sport?

The hardest thing about my sport I would say would be the training sessions, pushing your body to the limits. Running hard and fast whilst your legs are burning at the same time and pushing through it.Its especially hard as my disability holds me back as my left side gets tired it is unable to keep up with the rest of me, so I have to put in twice the amount of effort in to make sure I do not drop my speed. Recovery of my left side is also not as quick as my right sid. What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time if I am not training or in the Gym I like going to watch football at Spurs, I have a season ticket and go to all of the home games with a few mates. I also like socialising with friends, going to the Cinema and trying other sports like golf and go-karting

Where do you want to be in 5 years, 10 years time etc?

In 5 years time I want to be selected to compete in the next Paralympics. In 10 years time I would love to still be competing but also being able to use my experience to help others to compete at a high level and achieve in the Sport. As a qualified personal trainer I would like start my own personal training business for people with disabilities to help them get fit, active or strive to compete at the highest level.

What is the best feature of Perfect Balance Clinic?

The best feature of Perfect Balance is the variety of different things they can help you with. Such as sports massage, physiotherapy S&C and for me in particular was my body muscle balance. All of these things are important support for athletes. I also like the the atmosphere at the clinic, everyone I have met has been really nice and helpful in every way possible and this has made me feel more positive about myself and achieving my goals, when I have great people behind me.
