Meet Glen Johnson: Golfer!

What is your greatest achievement?

My career to date has been filled with many great personal achievements. Firstly, I have competed in Elite County and National individual tournaments, producing some great results which include playing The Lee Westwood Trophy and English Amateur. Together with this, I have represented golf clubs at both regional and national level and won amateur events at both.

I am proud to have represented and captained Keele University and also played for Wychwood Park, Devere. Since turning professional, I have competed comprehensively on the Jamega, EuroPro and TP Tour series, won various one day golf event and also led Open Qualifying at Sandy Lodge.

What is your greatest ambition?

My greatest ambition is to become a Major Champion and also become an established player within the top 50 in the world.

What is your inspiration for competing?

My inspiration for competing is my family, friends and coaches. Together with this, the feeling that is achieved when I am playing and competing at my highest level is one of my main reasons for competing.

What is the hardest thing about your sport?

The hardest thing about my sport is the sacrifice that is needed to compete at the highest level. Furthermore, the amount of travel and time spent away from home is very difficult, but it is all part of life as a professional golfer.

What do you do in your spare time?

When I am not training or in the gym, I like to socialise with friends and also work to improve my knowledge of other industries.

Where do you want to be in 5 years, 10 years time etc?

In 5 years time, I want to be regularly competing in Major Championships and sustain a position within the worlds top 50 players.Looking further ahead, I want to become an ambassador for the sport, to attract more young people to play the game and also teach them what it takes to become an elite professional.
